Two years ago, Mark became passionate about running after seeing his weight rise and his fitness dwindle.  He signed up for a Marathon and a Half-Ironman and began to train, battling fatigue and injuries along the way.  Under the guidance of a running coach, he completed Houston Marathon in 2013 (his second marathon) and won the first place award for his age group 40-44.  Mark has completed several Half-Ironman races and is training for Ironman Louisville (140.6 miles) in August, 2013.

Being inspired by his then 13 year old daughter who ran a half marathon to raise money for her school, he decided that he could do the same on behalf of Houston's underserved communities.  Mark has never run farther and 26.2 miles, so this event is truly a challenge.  By running as many miles as he can in a 24 hour period, Mark hopes to influence others to attempt something amazing and generous on behalf of others.
